OUR PLATFORM

PRIORITIES

  • Small businesses are the backbone of our community, but too often they’re slowed down by unnecessary bureaucracy. Nafisa will cut red tape by speeding up permits, simplifying regulations, and making county processes easier to navigate. That means less waiting, less confusion, and more time for business owners to focus on what they do best creating jobs, serving our neighbors, and strengthening our local economy.

  • For families, businesses, and neighborhoods to thrive, we need housing that working people can actually afford. When housing is stable and within reach, everything else, health, safety, employment, and dignity become possible. Nafisa will lead with common sense, increase housing supply by streamlining permitting and allowing more diverse housing options, expand workforce housing so essential workers can live where they work, and invest in energy efficiency and utility assistance to lower monthly bills. Because lowering costs isn’t just about housing, it’s about making everyday life more affordable.

  • Government should work for the people and that means being accountable and transparent. Nafisa will ensure your tax dollars are used responsibly by strengthening oversight, improving public access to information, and making decision-making more open and understandable. From clearer budgets to regular community updates, she will make it easier for residents to see where their money is going and hold government accountable. Because when government is transparent, it works better for everyone

  • Washington County isn't just part of Oregon's economy, it drives it. The resilience of hardworking families, innovation, and small businesses here fuel our state's future. We need a county budget that reflects our values, supports our communities, and invests boldly in building a Washington County that works for all of us.

Nafisa believes that a budget isn't just numbers on a page- it's a statement of Washington County’s values of fairness, opportunity, and growth that reaches everyone, especially those who’ve been left out. For the last 4 years, our county has faced a budget shortfall, with the latest gap reaching $20.5 million. A shortfall means that the county’s income is less than our expenses. To address these challenges, Nafisa will:

    • Protect Essential Services: Protect funding for essential services, including housing, transit, and health care, while working on long-term solutions to support services amidst budget challenges.

    • Close the budget gap: Explore innovative solutions to increase revenue without overburdening taxpayers, including updating service fees and considering local option levies for critical services like public safety and libraries.

    • Invest in Washington County’s Future: Focus on equity-centered programs that stimulate economic growth from the ground up, especially: supporting small businesses; creating good paying, green jobs; and expanding workforce training programs.

In our Washington County, our economy works for all of us-especially working families and small businesses.

We believe in a Washington County that is affordable and works for everyone, no matter what’s in your wallet, what you believe in, or what you look like.
